Sustainability Tips from the Terramera Team

At Terramera, we have big, hairy, audacious ten-year goals, but we also recognize the importance of living our values in practical ways every day. We asked our Terramera team members what they do to live green and minimize their impact on our planet. Below is a list of their favourite sustainability tips:

  • Limit the things you own to only the essentials
  • Walk, bike, or use public transit, especially in the summer
  • Use Bullfrog Power to run your home with green energy
  • Don’t leave the TV on in the background
  • Turn off the lights every time you leave a room
  • Put on a sweater and thick socks before resorting to turning on the heat
  • Trade in your old phone when upgrading
  • Only print what is absolutely necessary, otherwise keep it digital
  • Put old notebooks in the recycling, not the garbage
  • Donate clothes so they can be reused rather than discarded
  • Make an effort to buy local food, wine and beer to lessen transport emissions
  • Reduce food waste by making a meal plan and grocery list
  • Keep a cloth bag in your backpack or purse in case you decide to buy groceries
  • Switch to LED bulbs- they use less power, generate less heat and last much longer
  • If you buy a product that feels over-packaged let the retailer know- most have specific programs that collect this feedback and respond accordingly!

When it comes to caring for our planet, every action counts and learning from each other is a great way to create new environmentally friendly habits. At Terramera, we’re developing technology that will positively impact the long-term health of our planet, while doing our part today.
