TERRAMERA NAMED 2021 EXPORT STAR BY EDC FOR CONTRIBUTION TO FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE
OTTAWA, ON – October 27, 2021 – Terramera, the global agtech leader, has been named a 2021 Export Star by Export Development Canada (EDC) for developing technologies that are instrumental in the fight against climate change. This recognition was announced as part of EDC’s fifth annual Cleantech Export Week which brings together companies, partners, and financiers from across Canada’s cleantech ecosystem to drive sector growth.
“Agriculture has an integral role to play in the health and longevity of our earth, and Terramera’s climate-smart products and digital tools can enable this,” said Karn Manhas, Terramera Founder and CEO. “We’re honoured to have EDC recognize this and appreciate their ongoing support in growing our business on the world stage.”
Terramera’s technology provides solutions to the agricultural industry to reduce the use of synthetic pesticides; increase crop resiliency, predictability and quality; and measure the carbon sequestered through regenerative agriculture. With these climate-smart solutions the company aims to reduce the global synthetic pesticide load by 80%, increase global farm productivity by 20%, and increase soil organic carbon 100% by 2030.
“Canadian cleantech talent is on full display with this year’s Export Stars and Ones to Watch, and we congratulate them for standing out and making a difference in their fields,” said Guillermo Freire, EDC’s Vice President of Structured and Project Finance. “The list of candidates was an extensive one to choose from, which further highlights Canada’s ability to innovate in this sector. With exciting success stories like these, and a platform for the ecosystem to connect, share and learn, EDC’s aim for Cleantech Export Week is to continue to showcase Canadian innovation and support the sector’s growth, both at home and abroad.”
